Just a Little Marshmallow in my Nose

I was thankful that Josiah woke up with a runny nose this morning. For it was that runny nose that helped confirm to me that he did, indeed, stuff a blue Lucky Charms marshmallow up his nose. The panic in his voice as he told me of his dilemia, was further supported by the blue liquid goo that began to run down towards his upper lip. "Why in the world would you put a marshmallow up your nose?" "I don't know Mom....I just wanted to." And so began our quest to extract the forbidden object (which fortunately took less than 30 seconds, but left a blue ring around his nostril for a majority of the day).

And then it struck me....my nose is full of little blue marshmallows. I wonder how many times a day God ponders the same question as he watches me make decisions throughout my day. "Why in the world would you choose to do that Karen?" "I don't know God...I just wanted to."

While I strive to make decisions that will not leave a blue streak down my face, I must say I am thankful for a compassionate and merciful God who helps me remove the forbidden object from my nose (or my heart) and tenderly cleans away the stains.

Leave it to you to find a teachable moment within a moment like that! You're so funny, and amazing of course :-)

He follows in his aunt Denise's footsteps well, end of ink pen up the nose. What we can do when we really work at it.
